Chelsea today announced pre-tax losses of £90.1 million (€105 million) at the end of its first full year under the ownership of the Clearlake Capital consortium, led by the American magnate, in June 2023. Todd Boehly, who bought the club from Roman Abramovich in May 2022.
This figure is lower than the loss of £121.4 million recorded by Chelsea last year.
Decrease in income
Chelsea’s turnover increased from £481.3 million in the 2021-22 season to £512.5 million (€600 million), but broadcast revenue was £255.9 million (€300 million ), representing a decrease of 9.1 million pounds compared to last year due for failing to qualify for the current European competitions.
Premier League rules establish that clubs cannot lose more than 105 million pounds over three years, so Chelsea, led the bench by Mauricio Pochettino, will be forced to transfer players to comply with the regulations.
