The Dutch footballer Quincy promisedwho militate in Spartak Moscow and detained in Dubai two weeks ago, won’t be able to return to his team anytime soon. “The review of the circumstances that did not allow Quincy Promes to return to Russia may take more time,” Spartak said in a statement.
The note added that the club is in contact with the player’s representatives. On February 29, Promes, a Dutch citizen, was arrested in Dubai and taken to a police station, after which he was released with a ban on leaving the country.
According to the Emirati authorities, the footballer was arrested for a local violation, something that was confirmed to the Russian agency TASS by the Dutch Prosecutor’s Office, which requested to get Promes for a drug trafficking case. Russian and foreign sports media reported that the reason for the arrest of the former Sevilla and Ajax footballer was a traffic violation.
Spartak, a team led by Spaniard Guillermo Abascal, has already played two league games after the winter break without Promes. Russia’s most successful club drew against Zenit and lost 0-2 against Fakel Voronezh.
