Neuville, first leader of the Rally of Italy and Sordo starts at 1"7

the Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20) was the fastest on Thursday in the 3.23-kilometer super special held in Alghero to become the first leader of Rally Italy-Sardinia, fifth round of the World Cup and where the head of the general, the Finn Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota Yaris GR), was fourth, and the Spanish Dani Sordo (Hyundai i20), seventh.

Neuville, second in the championship with 46 points behind Rovanperä, posted a winning time of 2: 36.8 minutes to finish ahead of four Toyota drivers led by Takamoto Katsuta of Japan, second in the half -second. Next were British Elfyn Evans, fourth at 0.7, and Finns Rovanperä and Esapekka Lappi, who tied one second behind the Belgian.

Rovanperä seeks the island of Italy to achieve the fourth consecutive victory after the achievements in Sweden, Croatia and Portugalwhich puts him as the outstanding leader of the championship with 46 points more than Neuville and 68 and 69 in the third and fourth, Katsuta and Estonian Ott Tanak (Hyundai i20)who scored for the sixth time this Thursday at 1.3, just ahead of Dani Sordo.

The Cantabrian started 1.7 seconds behind Neuville in a career in which he is looking forward to his third victory, after those he added in 2019 and 2020. In his fourteenth involvement on the Italian island, Sordo will try to take advantage of his delayed position this Friday on the start list for the first stage stages. He will do it from sixth place.

Every Friday and Saturday there will be eight sections and on Sunday, four will close the race.
