The new edition of the Santander Golf Tour beginsa women’s professional golf circuit that will consist of ten events held throughout the year in different Spanish territories.

The presentation, at the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, was attended by Gonzaga Escauriaza, president of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation; Felipe Martín Martín, director of Media, Online Marketing, Sponsorships and Events of Santander Spain; Cristina de Dueñas, director of planning and coordination of Private Banking, Asset Management and Insurance at Santander Spain; Nieves Merino Morillo, president of Malan Syndrome Association Spain; Alicia Garrido, director of Sports and Business and the Santander Golf Tour; and María Herraéz, professional player.

Gonzaga Escauriaza, president of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, emphasized the continuation of this integrated circuit, and thanked everyone present for promoting this wonderful sport: “It’s great to have this circuit, the women’s golf is very expensive, and I will have a memory for Emma Villacieros, who has been a great promoter of Spanish women’s golf, with a lot of success, even winning four European titles last year. There has been a transition between amateurism and professionalism, and I believe this circuit is absolutely perfect to facilitate this transition. It’s something difficult, but thanks to circuits like this, that step is made easier to play, which is the most important thing.

Felipe Martín Martín, director of Media, Online Marketing, Sponsorships and Events at Santander Spain, recalled the bank’s commitment to women’s sports: “We are very happy because we are fulfilling our mission at Banco Santander to help companies develop. I think this sponsorship reflects well, as we help players make the jump from amateur to professional, and every time they succeed, we are proud. “I think we’re meeting all of our goals, and we’re very happy and excited to continue to support women’s sports.”

For her part, Cristina de Dueñas, director of planning and coordination of Private Banking, Asset Management and Insurance at Santander Spain, assured that “the Pro-Am sessions are very positive, because clients outside their daily- day environment enjoys a very pleasant experience with professionals, who help them a lot, making it a very special day. I also want to thank the sponsors, because this year our colleagues from Santander Seguros, the Malan Syndrome Foundation and the professionals are joining us for their participation and patience. We expect this to continue for many years.”

For his part, Nieves Merino Morillo, president of the Malan Syndrome Association Spain, explained that: “Malan Syndrome is a rare disease of genetic origin identified in 2010. It causes the absence of a protein with important muscular properties and skeletal development of people suffering from it. In addition, they have other symptoms such as developmental delay, behavioral problems, intellectual disability, motor delay and other characteristics that make their life a little more complicated. There is no cure, but early diagnosis can help improve your quality of life. Our goal is to accompany, help and guide the families of those affected, in addition to spreading the word because it is a very little known syndrome. Another goal as beneficiaries is to find a referral doctor with knowledge about the syndrome that will help us promote more beneficial therapies for these people. For us, this is a goal we are setting in motion and we are sure we can achieve it with your help.
