With goals from Ismael Díaz and Cecilio Waterman, the selection of Panama beat this Thursday by 2-0 to Costa Rica on the first day of group B of League of Concacaf Nations. In the 3rd minute, Costa Rica had the first danger with a shot by Daniel Chacón that fell into the crossbar of the Panamanian goal defended by Luis Mejía.
The duel was conducted according to the rhythm of Costa Rica, in the 16th minute Anthony Contreras fled, took a cross, Ricardo Blanco finished, but Cristian Martínez saved the Panamanian’s goal.
The locals had the option to open the scoring in the 28th minute, amid Michael Amir Murillo where Waterman scored the ball, but it was not directed into the goal. Later, with a corner kick brought directly to the goal, the ball hit the Costa Rican’s crossbar.
In the second half a better Panama was seen. In the 47th minute, José Luis Rodríguez fled from the right, pointing the ball, but no one came to push the ball.
In the 52nd minute, Alberto Quintero entered the area, taking a center where Ismael Díaz from the right beat Moreira and put it 1-0 on the board. The second goal came in the 76th. In an Eric Davis corner, Roderick Miller dropped the ball, Diaz finished and Waterman just touched the ball to celebrate again.
