Marcel Granollers made history in the doubles circuit

This Monday, Marcel Granollers added his 500th victory on the ATP doubles circuitincluding the victory he and his current partner, the Argentine Horacio Zeballos, had in the Miami tournament against the Salvadoran Marcelo Arévalo and the Croatian Mate Pavic (7-5 ​​​​and 6-3).

Granollers, 37 years old, has won 25 doubles titles throughout his career, they shared the 2012 ATP Finals with Marc López.

As an individual player he won four tournaments. He started playing doubles in 2007 to improve his performance and over the years he has become one of the best specialists in the world.

Nicolás Almagro was his first doubles partneralthough he won his first title in 2009 with Tommy Robredo at the Costa do Sauipe tournament (Brazil).

Of his 25 titles, eight were won with Zeballos, four with Marc López, two with Tommy Robredotwo with Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas, two with Croatian Ivan Dodig and the rest with different partners.

His best ATP ranking in doubles was achieved in 2013, when it rose to number 4 on the world list. Currently listed at 9.

In the individual ranking he reached 19th place in 2012.

I have very good teammates with whom I also maintain a good relationship and that is important for many on the track.“said Granollers about his doubles career, in statements collected by ATP. “I am grateful that players like Robredo, Feli (Feliciano López) and Almagro gave me the opportunity to play with them in big tournaments when I was starting out. After Marc (López) I got good results and doing it with a friend is even more special,” he added.

Granollers and Zeballos will compete in the quarterfinals of the Miami tournament, where they were the fourth seeds, against British Lloyd Glasspool and Dutch Jean-Julien Rojer.
