The final stretch of the Premier League looks exciting, too Liverpool (67 points), Arsenal (65) and City of Manchester (64) fighting for the title with the three giants having nine games remaining. But let’s go back to three precedents of a close Premiership between three contenders.
1
2013-14
Gerrard’s slip
On May 6, 2014, only 2 points separated Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. But City, then managed by Manuel Pellegrini, won a pending match and ended up as champions at the expense of a slumping Liverpool after losing against Chelsea with Steven Gerrard’s slip (which Demba Ba took advantage of to score the first ‘ blue’ goal, at the end 0-2) and allow themselves to be leveled by Crystal Palace (3-3). He finished the table with 86 points from City, 84 from Liverpool and 82 from Chelsea.

2
2001-02
When Arsenal reigned supreme
On April 23, 2002, Arsenal led Liverpool by one point and Manchester United by 2. But the Gunners had a game in hand, they had 11 straight wins and were champions, beating Sir Alex Ferguson’s United at Old Trafford. In the end, Arsenal added 87 points, Liverpool 80 and United, 77. The following year, 2002-03, Arsène Wenger’s team achieved the record of winning the Premier League without defeat. The mythical Arsenal of the Invincibles.

3
1995-96
Ferguson beat Keegan
In March, with 8 games remaining, Manchester United and Newcastle were tied on 61 points at the top of the Premier League. Liverpool have 59. Although they have played 2 games, Sir Alex Ferguson’s team have taken the title, beating Kevin Keegan’s ‘magpies’ in the table. United added 82 points, Newcastle 78 and Liverpool 71.
