The AFE released a statement on Thursday about everything that happened in recent weeks and which it considers “totally discredits the image of Spanish football.”
In fact, he considers that this is an unsustainable situation that cannot continue. The last straw was the arrest and subsequent release of Luis Rubiales along with all the information that came out about the alleged criminal activities affecting various people around him. The events he considered “irreversibly tarnish the image of the RFEF as the common home of all Spanish football.”
The union recalls that it has been denouncing this situation for a long time, “repeatedly demanding that the Spanish Government immediately adopt coercive measures, something that has not yet happened.” In fact, it calls for “extraordinary measures” after what happened yesterday in the call for elections for the presidency of the RFEF and the subsequent challenge to the process. Measures to “avoid the mismanagement of the RFEF and the continuing damage to the image of Spanish football.”
Furthermore, the AFE, as a member of the candidacy to organize the 2030 World Cup, expresses its “deep concern over the possibility that FIFA interferes with the RFEF and, as a result, Spain is harmed by non- alleged irregularities committed by Luis Rubiales and some of his most direct collaborators”.
