Justin Thomas He announced his breakup with his caddy this Wednesday Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay, eight days before the start of the Masters. Thomas, two-time US PGA champion and 15-time PGA Tour winnerMackay was snapped up in 2021 after a long career of late carrying the bag Phil Mickelson.
“Even though it was so hard for me to say, ‘Bones’ and I broke up,” Thomas wrote on social media. “I will always be grateful to him for joining me in my purse from 2021. The things we have been able to achieve together – the PGA Championship in 2022, the Presidents Cup, the 2021 Ryder Cup – are unforgettable experiences. His wisdom on and off the field has been a blessing in a difficult phase of my career and he has been there every step of the way. I know great things await us both in the future. I wish him the best of luck and I always hope to him and his family to my friends.”
Thomas, 30, is currently ranked 28th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He did not reveal who will be his caddy at Augusta National Golf Club from April 11-14.
Thomas started the season well, finishing in the top 12 in his first three events, including a 3rd ex aequo at American Express in La Quinta (California). He then missed the cut at the Genesis Invitational, tied for 12th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, missed the cut again at The Players Championship and finished 64th at the Valspar Championship.
