He Manchester United announced this Tuesday John Murtough He left his position as director of football at the Old Trafford club before putting a new structure in place at the entity under the direction of its new investors.
Murtough was worked on Manchester United for 11 years in various roles, including head of football development, before being promoted to director of football in March 2021. New Murtough left the United Richard Arnoldwho became its executive director.
As part of the agreement in which the British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe bought a 27.7% stake in Manchester Unitedhis company INEOS took control of the club’s football operations and he began making changes in search of a return to United in its best hours.
Omar Berrada (former executive of City of Manchester) has been hired by Old Trafford as executive director. Another purpose of United is Dan Asworthsports director of Newcastleas well as the Jason Wilcox (Southampton), who can be hired as technical director of United.
Joel Glazer, co-president of Manchester Unitedsaid: “After 11 years of tireless work for the club, John (Murtough) have both agreed with us that now is the right time to step aside and allow the new football leadership structure to be established. You are always welcome to Manchester United as a friend of the club.”
Besides, Sir Jim Ratcliffe thanked Murtough “your support and integrity during this transition.”
