After leaving the Seville in the last summer transfer market after four years shining in the Seville team, Yassine Bono enjoy now on Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Today, the Moroccan goalkeeper admitted that he left to preserve his mental health, as he suffered depressive episodes due to family matters.
Bono won the Saudi Arabia Super Cup on Thursday against Al-Ittihad (4-1), his first title since arriving in the Middle East. Invited to a media tour, the Montreal native spoke about the circumstances of his sudden departure from Sevilla, months after being decisive in the penalty shootout in the Europa League final against Roma.
“I don’t feel good. It’s not me. I entered my last year with a family problem. I need to take my strength and all my experience, but I can’t because emotionally I can’t stay here. I needed a change for my mental health,” revealed. And he added: “You can’t be somewhere you know you shouldn’t be. I don’t have much of a life outside of football. Exercise, get a dog, take a nap and think about training the next day.. .”
Bono left with one year left on his Sevilla contract, which he is very grateful for. “It’s more honest to be there when you can’t give what you need… Everything they gave me is incredible, I’m going to keep it forever. I love them so much and they will have a brother who love Sevilla. as they do, we will never let Sevilla sink.”
