The Keys to the Austin Sprint

Date:

1. Viñales’ state of grace.

Maverick is screaming in the desert about ‘Give me a lever and I’ll move the world’. That lever was found by Aprilia in Portugal in the form of a subtle change in the position of the rider on his bike, who can now deploy all his control. His last three races, in 10.

2. Acosta failed to overtake Márquez.

Pedro Acosta passed Marc Márquez on the third lap at turn #7, but Marc gave it back to him at turn #8. In that maneuver, Acosta and Martín lost a few meters with Márquez decisive.

3. Double fault by Martín in Q2.

In practice he showed that he was the only one capable of riding Viñales’ time. But upset in Q2, a session that defined the starting grid, he went to the ground twice, which ended up relegating him to the second row of the grid. He started fifth, eliminating any chance of winning the race.

4. Bagnaia’s bad start.

Attempting to lead the race from the first moment from his fourth place on the grid, the reigning World Champion was too aggressive when the red light went out. He crossed the finish line in tenth on the first lap.

5. The return of Raúl Fernandez.

As in the case of Viñales, he too came out of the darkness once Aprilia realized that in the first two GGPPs he had two motorcycles in the garage that were theoretically the same but that were different, and the rider went crazy. His best race since he was in MotoGP.
