Messi has been first player in MLS history capable of scoring at least five goals and five assists in his first five games of a season.
With this award won by Messi, Inter Miami has already accumulated three awards for the best day in eight weeks. Uruguayan Luis Suárez took it third and fifth.
Inter Miami shares first place in the MLS East with the New York Red Bulls, who are one game behind.
