A group of Real Madrid fans who traveled to Manchester chanted racist chants against City going into the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie. More than 2,000 white fans will join Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the Etihad stand in search of the semi-finals.
“It belongs to the Moors, City belongs to the Moors,” chanted some Madrid fans in a central square of the English city in reference to Manchester City’s owners, who hail from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Furthermore, as is customary in matches played by Madrid on English soil, some fans also chanted “Gibraltar is Spanish.” This chant took place last season at Anfield and in 2022 at Stamford Bridge.
