Juve must pay 10 million euros to Cristiano Ronaldo!

Date:

Juventus will have to pay 9,774,166.66 million euros (plus interest). Cristiano Ronaldo, a value that the Portuguese must have entered at that time. It was established by three referees (Gianroberto Villa, Roberto Sacchi and Leandro Cantamessa) in the dispute between CR7 and the Turin club.

The conflict refers to the agreement reached by Juventus in 2020 with Cristiano to postpone the monthly payment due to the lack of income as a result of the Covid pandemic and then not paying the player., so he appealed to the Arbitration Court of the Italian Football Federation.

In reality, the agreement with Cristiano was almost 20 million euros, but the Court of Arbitration reduced the amount by half.

The ‘secret letter’, the key

The so-called ‘secret letter’ from Cristiano in Italy, a document kept secret by Juve at the time, revealed the agreement in which they committed to paying 19.8 million euros to Ronaldo, exactly the same amount as his four months’ salary .

The Prosecutor’s Office discovered, thanks in part to this ‘secret letter’, that the agreement was not a salary waiver, but rather a a payment deferral for three of the four agreed months (March to June 2020). The payment does not appear in that year’s fiscal year, so the Prosecutor’s Office considers it a crime of tax fraud.

The document was seized by the Italian financial police on March 23, 2022 during a search conducted at Juve’s offices and was signed only by the then sports director, Fabio Paratici.

A failure for Juventus

The Portuguese star, now in Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr, has turned to lawyers John Shehata, Emanuele Guastalla, Fabio Iudica and Salvatore Pino and obtained a victory that will also cost Juve a lot in terms of the budget, which in recent years has not reserved any amount due to the risk of an unfavorable decision in this case.
