Pep Guardiola wins a Premier thanks to ‘hawk eye’

Date:

In the recent controversy over the goal not being awarded to Barça in league matches real Madrid and the reasonable criticism of the absence of the ‘hawk’s eye’ in LaLiga (one of the few that does not have it), it is worth remembering the importance of goal technology. Since the 2018-19 season, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has won a Premier League title thanks to it.

Manchester City and Liverpool come into matchday 21 with Klopp’s team leading (54 points) and Guardiola’s team second (47). After the dispute in that match and the intervention of ‘hawk eye’, the Premier came forward. In the 20th minute of the game, John Stones, with a fatal rebound, put the ball into his goal. The referee initially did not score a goal, but the technology of the goal was very important because he intervened to confirm the referee’s decision, avoiding any controversy.

On January 3, 2019, Manchester City won at the Etihad Stadium and cut three points clear of their rivals which ended up giving them the title. They staged an epic comeback to the end in a Premier League that ended with a one-point win over the Reds: 98 to 97.
