He Udinese17th in Serie A, announced this Monday the dismissal of its coach Gabriele Cioffito be replaced according to the Italian press by the 2006 world champion, Fabio Cannavaro. “Udinese has announced the change of duties of Gabriele Cioffi as first-team coach,” the club said in a brief statement.
Cioffi replaced Andrea Sottil at the end of October. Under his direction, Udinese won only four championship games. After losing on Friday against a direct rival for safety, Verona, the Firolu club has the same points as the bottom team, Frosinone, but with one game less.
To replace Cioffi, Udinese are in advanced negotiations with Cannavaro. The former Juventus Turin and Real Madrid defender has been without a team since he left Benevento (Serie B) in 2023. Cannavaro, 50, completed his coaching career at Guangzhou FC in 2014-15 and then from 2017 to 21 , where he regained the title of Chinese champion in 2019.
