Tommy Doyle (22) was unable to convince the City of Manchester by Pep Guardiola. The midfielder, grandson of two club legends (Mike Doyle and Glyn Pardoe), has been on loan for four seasons and it seems that, after spells at Hamburg, Cardiff and Sheffield United, he will remain permanently at Wolverhampton, if where he has played on loan this campaign.
‘Wolves’ have the option to buy the footballer and, according to ‘The Sun’, they will do so for around six million euros. Gary O’Neil, the coach of the team, assures that they are delighted with him: “We are happy with what he has done, so I don’t foresee any problems. I hope he will be here next year. I think it will be fast which is resolved because I know Tommy is enjoying himself.”
His paternal grandfather, Mike Doyle, is City’s third most capped player with 570 appearances for the club. Pardoe, Doyle Jr.’s maternal grandfather, still holds the record as the youngest player in City history, making his debut at 15 years and 314 days. They both need to play.
