This Sunday, the capital experienced a historic day of running in celebration of Zurich Rock ‘n’ roll Running Seriesan event that brought together 40,000 people over its three distances: 42K, 21K and 10K.
The queen and longest distance event, the marathon, had 11,000 participants and was won by an Ethiopian. Miktu Tafa Deceb and the Kenyan Naom Jebetwho took the victory in times of 2h08:57 and 2h26:19, respectively.
The men’s podium was completed by the Ethiopian Fikre Bekele with 2h09:09 and the Kenyan Douglas Chebii with 2h09:11, while among women, the second classified is the Ethiopian Bontu Bekele (2h27:04) and the third is his countryman Kebene Chala (2h27:30).
