Gjert Ingebrigtsenthe father of Olympic 1500m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen, was charged by Norwegian prosecutors with physical abuseas announced this Monday by the BBC.
The incident would have taken place in 2022, when the accused allegedly hit with a wet towel to one of his children.

The incident, which was investigated by the Norwegian police and prosecutor’s office, was against one of the younger brothers and not against the athletes.
Last year, Jakob, Henrik and Filip publicly accused their father of physical violence in a column written on the VG website and titled “This is our story”, where they denounced a childhood marked by violence and the controlling behavior of their father.
Following these statements, the norwegian police started a series of preliminary investigations and decided to open a case against Gjert Ingebrigtsen.
The father, for his part, denied the accusations through his lawyer, saying that he did not use violence against his children.
The Norwegian prosecutor’s office confirmed on Monday that five more crimes were dismissed for lack of evidence. But the lawyer of the five brothers, Mette Yvonne Larsensaid they will appeal against at least one of the rejected cases.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen is, in addition to being an Olympic champion, two-time 5,000m world champion and is currently preparing to compete in the Paris Olympic Games. His brothers Henrik and Filip, also Olympic athletes, are 1,500m European champions in 2012 and 2016 respectively.
