The International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced that. Aston Martin has filed an appeal against the sanction imposed on Fernando Alonso at the Chinese Grand Prix after an incident with his compatriot Carlos Sainz (Ferrari).
The two-time world champion was penalized ten seconds and three super license points for his contact with Sáinz in the sprint race of the Chinese test, fifth of the 2024 Formula One World Championship.
The stewards summoned both pilots to investigate the “sticking” between their cars.who engaged in a colorful fight for third place on lap number 16 of 19 of the reduced race, Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez (Red Bull) took advantage to overtake them and finally take that position.
According to the FIA, Alonso caused the contact, which resulted in the destruction of Sainz’s car. and also with a puncture in the Asturian’s front right tire that made him the only driver to leave the race, two laps from the end.
Aston Martin has to defend this appeal in a telematics meeting first held on Friday.
