Rumors abounded but as of Wednesday the bombing had not been confirmed. Adrian Newey who for many is the best engineer in the history of Formula 1leaf red bull and will be in another project in 2025.
Newey signed for the Milton Keynes team in 2006 and since then they have won seven drivers’ championships (four with Sebastian Vettel and three with Max Verstappen) along with six other constructors’ World Cup titles. And in 2024 they are again on their way to a new double.
“This will focus on the final development and delivery of Red Bull’s first hypercar, the long-awaited RB17 which will be unveiled at Goodwood in July,” explained the Austrians’ statement.
“All our best moments in the last 20 years came in Adrian’s hands at the technical helm. His vision and brilliance helped us win 13 titles in 20 seasons. For me, when Adrian joined the Red Bull, it’s now a superstar designer. Two decades and 13 championships later, he leaves as a true legend. He is also a friend of mine and someone I will be eternally grateful for all that he has contributed to our organization,” said Horner.
The big question now is figuring out where the most respected engineer in the paddock will end up. From Germany, they announced that he had joined Ferrari but there were also other rumors pointing to a multimillion-dollar offer from Aston Martin. At 65 years of age, the option to retire is also not removed.
