Sir Jim Ratcliffe came in with an iron hand on Manchester United and began to make structural changes to get out of the crisis that the club had been going through for a long time.
If a few days ago in England it was said that, with the exception of three players, the entire squad was put on the market for this summer, the news came exactly to one that was almost certainly decided.
Against the odds, it seems Ratcliffe is willing to give extra life to Erik ten Haag, who has had a disappointing season as Manchester United manager and has yet to finish convincingly. Athletic confirms that the plan is to continue to have the Dutchman, even if only for one season.
The current owner seems to believe that the executive team of Manchester United did not give Ten Hags enough and appropriate tools to be successful at Old Trafford and, looking at the alternatives in the market, they chose to try to make a team that this time is competitive, also at the management level (as they have already started to do) to reverse this situation and see if the former Ajax man is valid.
The Dutchman has one year left on his contract (until June 2026) and now the situation suggests that at least the idea is that he will fulfill it.
