Endrick was ‘soaked’ by Palmeiras’ defeat at Liverpool

Date:

He Palmeiras this Thursday is approaching the round of 16 of Libertadores Cup when losing for 0-5 a Liverpool in another magical night for Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira’s players at the Centenario stadium. The theater of Montevideo saw the São Paulo team crowned in 2021 at the expense of another Brazilian rival, Flamengo.

Palmeiras leads Group F with 10 points. Independiente del Valle and Liverpool followed that order with 4, and San Lorenzo closed the classification with 1. Today, Ferreira’s team resolved the match on the fourth day of Group F with a devastating second half.

Author of a goal to conquer 2021, Raphael Veiga paved the way to victory for a team that went from less to more and ended up crushing its opponent. A goal from the number 23 with a minute left in the first half broke the deadlock in a game that had until then been evenly matched, although there was a clearer picture for the visitors.

On the other hand, a long-range shot well cleared by Weverton and a counterattack handled by Matías Ocampo were the clearest for those led by Emiliano Alfaro.

In the second half, Ferreira’s changes changed Palmeiras’ attack and the local team was helpless against the constant attack of the last Brazilian league champions. On 71 minutes, Endrick took the middle lane at full speed and fed the ball to Veiga, who scored the second goal of the night.

Eleven minutes later, Rony assisted with a direct free kick and the young forward signed by Real Madrid changed his assist outfit for a scorer to score the third with a powerful header. Palmeiras made the breakthrough but it did not stop them and in the end they sealed the game with two new goals.

After 90 minutes, Rony scored the fourth with a shot inside the area and Paraguayan center back Gustavo Gómez was awarded a well-taken penalty. On the fifth and penultimate matchday, Palmeiras will host Independiente del Valle and San Lorenzo will host Liverpool.
