Jorge Prado swept Lugo and once again leads the motocross World Championship

The Spanish pilot Jorge Prado (Gas Gas) this Sunday he won the same round of Galician Grand Prixargued in Lugohis native town, and thus regained the leadership of motocross world championship which he gave to the Slovenian Tim Gajser (Honda) in the previous test, held in Agueda (Portugal).

The driver from Lugo, current world champion in the highest category, showed off his homeland and on the track in the municipality of Vilachá that bears his name, where he started from pole position after dominating the qualifying round on Saturday

He won the first race by a two-second margin over Frenchman Romain Febvre (Kawasaki) and Dutchman Calvin Vlaanderen (Yamaha), and joined Gajser in sixth place, more than four seconds behind.

Jorge Prado once again delighted the fans gathered at the Lugo track and repeated his victory, this time with Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings (KTM) in second place, 2.8 seconds behind. Gajser completed the podium in 10.110 and finished fourth at the Galicia Grand Prix.

“Galicia is an event marked on my calendar. Here, he will not fail. “It’s a dream come true to win with my team,” Jorge said after receiving the trophy from Xunta de Galicia President Alfonso Rueda.

With this new victory, Jorge Prado is back at the top of the general classification, commanding 298 points, just two more than Gajser. On the 31st is Febvre.

The World Championship continues next Sunday, May 19, with the French Grand Prix, at the Saint Jean d’Angely track.

In the Women’s World Cup, after missing the podium on Saturday, Daniela Guillén had a poor start on Sunday, but she climbed back to third position to maintain second place in the championship.

“It’s a shame because we were both penalized for both starts this weekend. Otherwise, we fought for first place. We continue fighting for the red plate and with our minds set on Germany,” explained the driver from Lloret de Mar.

Victory for Dutch Lotte van Drunen (Yamaha) ahead of current world champion, New Zealander Courtney Duncan (Kawasaki).
