Andoni Iraola has renewed his contract with Bournemouth until the end of the 2025-2026 season. The Spanish coach, who made his debut this season in the Premier League, achieved the record for points for the ‘Cherries’ in the highest category of English football, with 48 and one game to play, surpassing the 46 they achieved with Eddie Howe in the 2016-2017 campaign.
The previous contract of Iraola, who arrived last summer from Rayo Vallecano, expired in 2025. “I am very happy for this renewal. For me it is a matter of trust on the part of us. We have had a great experience in our first season together in the Premier League and I’m very happy that we want to continue this relationship in the future,” said Iraola on Monday.
“I am very proud that we achieved the points record. We played in a very difficult competition, with good rivals. The season did not start easily, but we improved a lot and we played as we wanted. We needed continue to improve the team, because “The level of the Premier is very high, and I hope to start working in the summer to achieve it.”
Despite a poor start to the season, with just three points in the first nine games, Iraola got back on track starting in October with a seven-game unbeaten streak, which included an 0- 3 wins at Old Trafford against Manchester United .
The Basque coach was named the best coach of the competition in March and is among the nominees for the best coach of the year award, along with Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Jürgen Klopp and Unai Emery.
