Massimiliano Allegri starred in one of the most monumental upsets of the season in the Coppa Italia final which Juventus won against Atalanta. Moments before the final whistle, the Vecchia Signora coach went mad protesting a foul against one of his players (which was signaled) in the middle of the Dea siege in search of a tie.
Allegri took off his suit jacket, visibly angry, and shouted at the fourth referee. The referee didn’t hesitate to show him the red card but that didn’t stop the Juventino coach’s unrelenting anger, which, far from stopping his protests, only intensified them.
Allegri applauded the referee, gave him an ironic thumbs up to congratulate him and continued to protest in the room before being taken away by a member of his staff. Then, on the way to the locker room, he took off his tie and threw it in the air while shouting “Where is Rocchi?” referred to Gianluca Rocchi, the head of Italian referees, in a shout captured live by television microphones. The anger was so brutal that even the players on the bench laughed.
