The Spanish Orlando Ortega was left without a minimum by the European Federation for the continental championships in Rome in Juneregistering a time of 13.65 in the 110 meter hurdles in the final test at the Brussels rally.
A day after tripping over a fence and leaving the rally Stanislas Nancy (France), Orlando Ortega competed again in Brussels but did not achieve the goal he soughtrunning below 13.46 as the minimum score imposed by the European Federation, harder than the RFEA minimum, set at 13.63.
Ortega, after two years not competing from May 10, 2022 due to various injuries, returned on May 11, at the Toni Bonet Meeting in Ibiza, with second place and a time of 13.89.
After being third in the Limassol (Cyprus) rally, with 13.72, Orlando Ortega achieved his first victory in two years on May 23, when he won the Heino Lipp Memorial in Johvi (Estonia), in the World Athletics bronze category .
In the final competition, at the Brussels rally, Orlando Ortega stopped the clock at 13.86 in the series and at 13.65 in the finalfinished fifth, far behind Belgian Michael Obasuyi’s 13.20 victory.
