He Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE), winner of 107th edition of the Giro d’Italiawas excited after crossing the finish line Rome and earning the pink jersey in his first participation, “a sensation that is hard to define” that left him speechless.
“I have no words, it’s hard to define this moment, it’s very exciting. The pink jersey is a very special dress, it’s been a very good Giro, the fans are incredible, the three weeks it’s crazy,” said the Slovenian at the finish next to the Colosseum in Rome.
The final stage saw Pogacar in the lead, trying to throw off the UAE team sprinter, the Colombian Sebastian Molano, but in the end it was not possible to achieve that goal.
“I want to be at the front, the circuit is very technical and we have to be attentive in the last laps. It’s a shame that I didn’t win with Molano, but you can’t always win,” he commented.
Pogacar couldn’t pick the best moment of the race, which he led from the second stage after his European victory.
“I can’t say which is the best memory, over time I will see which is the best, what is clear to me is that it was a wonderful, unforgettable Giro, my first victory in this race is unforgettable, I I am very happy,” he concluded.
