Yulenmis Aguilar receives permission from World Athletics to compete in Spain

Yulenmis Aguilarwho on April 10 received Spanish nationality by letter of nature, This Tuesday, he received official authorization from World Athletics to compete in Spain and participate in the European Championships in Rome. (June 7-12), as reported this Tuesday by Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.

Yulenmis (Bayaco, Cuba; 1996), double Cuban javelin champion in 2015 and 2017arrived in Spain at the end of December 2020. He did it then stopped counting for the national team in 2018 after winning bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

The Cuban-born athlete settled in Oleiros (A Coruña) with a work permit and began training with veteran Raimundo Fernández. He perfected the technique and He returned to compete after a blank 2020 due to injuries and depression.

In 2021 he played eight competitions -six in Spain and two in Portugal- and won seven, his best mark being 61.68 meters launched at the José Luis Hernández Memorial in Pamplona. He surpassed that mark in 2022, reaching 64.17 meters at the Spanish Outdoor Championships in Nerja (Málaga).

In 2023 his development continued and in 2024, in his first official competition, the Spanish Winter Long Throw Championship in Jaén, He reached 63.90 meters with his javelin, the best mark of the season and further than the 63.80 in which Australian Mackenzie Little won bronze last year at the World Championships in Budapest.

In the other four competitions of this 2024, except for the Ibero-American Meeting in Huelva, where he was fourth, he won the other three, two in the Iberdrola Club League (60.68 and 56.21) and another in José Luis Hernández Memorial to Pamplona (56.52).
