Due to a bomb threat, a passenger plane from the low-cost airline IndiGo Airlines was evacuated at the airport of the Indian capital Delhi in the early morning hours on Tuesday (see video above).
Passengers on IndiGo Airlines’ Airbus A320 were informed of the threat shortly before takeoff, at 5:35 a.m. local time. Footage (see video above) shows the panicked and frightened passengers climbing onto the plane’s wing via the emergency exits or using the inflatable slides to escape.
According to authorities, the plane was then taken to a restricted area at the Indira Gandhi International Airport for examination. The aviation security service and a team of bomb dismantlers were on site, an airport employee told local media. “All passengers are safe,” he said.
A senior CISF official told Indian news agency ANI that toilet paper with the word “bomb” on it had been found in an aircraft toilet. As a result, “the authority arranged to conduct an inspection, but it turned out to be a prank.”
