On Friday evening in Lauterach (Vorarlberg), an 80-year-old senior almost became the victim of a robbery on the street. However, alert neighbors came to his rescue and foiled the crime.
The 80-year-old was riding his bicycle, which he depends on due to an advanced walking disability, along the L190 in Lauterach when he was approached by an unknown man with a foreign accent and immediately attacked.
Screamed loudly for help
The perpetrator pushed the pensioner and his bicycle against a fence and then searched the 80-year-old for cash. However, he appeared to be very defensive and shouted loudly for help. Eventually, the neighbors became aware of the screams and immediately rushed to the scene. The perpetrator then fled on his bicycle and without stolen goods towards Bregenz.
Looking for witnesses
The police are now looking for a 20 to 25-year-old man of medium build (approx. 1.75 meters). At the time of the crime he was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white shoes. Witnesses to the crime or anyone with information about the incident are asked to contact Lauterach Police Station.
