Winter conditions killed a 17-year-old driver late on Tuesday evening in the Tiroler Unterland. The young German lost control of her car on Loferer Strasse near Wörgl, crashed into the guardrail and after several overturns came to a stop in the adjacent field. The driver and her companion (18) suffered injuries.
The serious accident happened around 11:30 p.m. The 17-year-old was driving her car on the B178 Loferer Straße from Söll towards Wörgl when she lost control of the wheel immediately after a tunnel on the snowy road. “She came over the side of the road with a slight left turn and hit the guardrail first,” the police said.
The force of the impact sent the car flying! The car then rolled over several times and finally came to a stop about 50 meters from the road. “The driver of the accident and her 18-year-old passenger were able to free themselves from the totally destroyed wreckage,” the investigators continued.
Main road closed for an hour
The two occupants sustained injuries. After first aid at the scene of the accident, they were transported by ambulance to the Kreisziekenhuis Kufstein. Due to the accident and the operation, the B178 was closed to all traffic for an hour.
