A 23-year-old from Klagenfurt had an accident on his motorbike in the presence of several police officers. The young Carinthian has since lost his driver’s license.
On Thursday evening, around 12:30, a 23-year-old from Klagenfurt was riding his motorcycle south on Lastenstrasse in Klagenfurt. At the intersection with Flatschacher Strasse, he wanted to turn right into Flatschacher Strasse. “The man lost control of his motorized bike, causing him to ride over a traffic island into oncoming traffic and onto the curb,” according to the police. This caused the 23-year-old to fall and hit a fence behind the sidewalk.
A police patrol witnessed the accident. The 23-year-old suffered at least superficial minor injuries, but refused treatment from the emergency services. “A breath analysis showed that he was seriously intoxicated. His driver’s license was confiscated and he was prohibited from driving any further,” the police said.
Head-on collision between car and motorcycle
A few hours earlier, on Wednesday around 5:45 p.m., a 17-year-old boy from the Klagenfurt-Land district was driving on the Wörthersee-Süduferstraße (L 96) from the direction of Velden towards Reifnitz. At the same time, a 31-year-old woman from the Villach-Land district was driving her car in the opposite direction.
“At house number 191 in Maria Wörth, the motorcyclist entered the oncoming lane for an as yet unknown reason in a right-hand bend, which led to a collision,” the police said. After initial treatment by the emergency services, the young man was flown to UKH Klagenfurt by the Christophorus 11 rescue helicopter with injuries of an undetermined nature. The driver of the car was unharmed. Neither had been drinking alcohol.
