Presentation of the website of the Basque government

Date:

The economy and finance minister of the Basque government has again criticized the speed with which EU funds for the next generation are allocated, at a time when it is necessary to be “agile and efficient”.

Pedro AzpiazúMinister of Economy and Finance of the Basque Government, calls for the resources of the EU’s Next Generation Recovery Fund to be “more fluency and common sense” than the one shown so far, because in the face of economic difficulties “requires the moment to be agile and efficient”.

As the Minister explained, the Basque government has so far had no connection with the distribution, since “sufficient participation” has not been given to the autonomous communities“as Europe demanded”.

Azpiazu has determined that 3.88% of the funds have reached the CAV and ensures that this percentage does not correspond to objective data such as the population or the income of the autonomous community.

Despite everything, we hope that it will be corrected from 2022 and that we will have access to real resources.

Azpiazu has given this data in the presentation of a new website to access all information about the Next Generation Euskadi program, “with the aim of opening “a simple channel for those agents interested in accessing the funds related to the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) to follow the calls on being able to find an agile way, bids and help”.

The Executive hopes the funds “will lead to transformative initiatives that provide a future scenario for generations to come.”

Asked whether the investment in a Sagunt giga factory (Valencia), Azpiazu explained that “there are some Basque companies” in the project, although he would prefer to do it in the autonomous community. The counselor hopes to make the investments in Euskadi, as he does not expect there to be “incompatibilities” between that investment and others in the CAV.
