Djokovic: “Tomorrow I will see if I can continue in the tournament”

Date:

The Serbian Novak Djokovic He confirmed this Monday that he felt pain in his right knee during the round of 16 match of Roland Garros against Argentina Francisco Cerundolo and indicated that this Tuesday he will undergo tests to check if he can continue.

“At the end of the game I didn’t feel any pain because I took medicine. I underwent some tests that were positive, but tomorrow we will do other tests and we will see if I can continue playing,” said the player.

Djokovic, who noted that he has felt discomfort in his right knee for several weeks, said that during the match he thought about retiring but wanted to give the medicine a chance to see if it worked.

“I could hardly move, I didn’t want to do long exchanges and he noticed it and he dropped me a lot, I moved a lot. I couldn’t run,” he said.

The Serbian said that from the end of the fourth set he played without problems and got back into the match.

The world number 1 complained about the track conditions, where he said there was less clay than on other occasions, which could have caused him that injury.

“I asked them to sweep it, but they didn’t. I think the injury can be avoided,” he said.

But he also considered that the injury may have happened “due to wear and tear”, since last Saturday he played 4 and a half hours to beat the Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the third round.
