A tragedy may have occurred on Monday afternoon in a single-family home in St. Stefan ob Leoben. Neighbors heard shots and called the police – the officers found two bodies.
The emergency call was received by the police on Monday around 4:30 p.m.: Neighbors had heard shots in a single-family home in St. Stefan ob Leoben. When officers arrived on scene and entered the home, they found two people – a woman and a man – with fatal gunshot wounds. Two weapons were also seized; it is not yet clear whether these were the murder weapons.
Woman discovered outside
According to investigators’ initial findings, the woman may have been running from the man because she was discovered outside. But this is not yet certain, according to a spokesperson for the Styrian State Police Directorate.
The background to the crime is also currently unknown and the police have not yet confirmed the identity of the two deaths. Both were probably around 50 years old.
The house was apparently unoccupied
It is suspected to be a murder-suicide. According to the first information, the man would have been dead in the house. However, according to initial findings, the building was not occupied. State police said further details are not expected until Tuesday. The Styrian State Police has taken over the investigation.
