The Slovenian Tadej Pogacarrecent winner of the Giro d’Italia and double winner of the Tour de France, He hopes that Jonas Vingegaard can be one hundred percent in the French racewhere he predicts that both Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic will “fly”.
“I think Jonas Vingegaard will be with the Tour. He returned to training after he was released from the hospital and if he is comfortable on the bike again I think he will be able to leave well. He needs to reach his goal weight, but I don’t think that will be a problem,” Pogacar told the Geraint Thomas Podcast.
Regarding Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel, who are currently in the Dauphiné, it is clear that Pogacar will both “fly” in the Tour de France and they will be dangerous rivals.
“Evenepoel will surely fly, he will also be motivated, like Roglic. “Both of them will be one hundred percent ready for the Tour,” he said.
Furthermore, the Slovenian thinks that “it would be good to see Evenepoel on Toura rider who needs to move especially at the start of the Tour, while Roglic will observe first and then fly in the final days.”
Regarding his team, the UAE, Pogacar is clear that Adam Yates, Juan Ayuso and Joao Almeida will be his key pieces.
“Adam Yates will be my right-hand man, while Juan Ayuso and Joao Almeida will be great companions on the mountain stages.. Marc Soler and Pavel Sivakov are also good climbers, but can also do a lot on the flat. And then there will be Tim Wellens and Nils Politt, the strong men on the plain,” explained Pogacar.
In the tactical section, Pogacar did not give much explanation.
“It’s a hard start, but I haven’t thought about it much. Last year we were very aggressive in Bilbao, but maybe we received a small cost in return. The form was not very good that time either. We need to rethink what we are going to do” he said.
Regarding the keys, Pogacar explained that “the first day will be 210 kilometers with four consecutive climbs, and on the second day we will have the San Luca del Giro dell’Emilia and then the Galibier on the fourth episode. The last three episodes are going to be great, too,” he concluded.
