Kepa Arrizabalaga (29) did not have the popularity it wanted to real Madrid. He assigned Chelsea last summer in Ancelotti’s team, the Basque goalkeeper was always in the shadow of Lunin and Courtois so, at this point, he is once again thinking about what to do.
Kepa has one year left on his contract at the London club, where he will now return to hold talks with incoming coach Enzo Maresca. He is at a crossroads, as it is clear that he will only return to be the starting goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge.
According to ‘The Sun’, the Santiago Bernabéu are willing to give Kepa another 12 months on a new loan or secure him a free transfer. In other words: accept another year of loan or sign him, but for free. But that seems unlikely as Chelsea are looking to make money from selling players.
His other options are to find an alternative club or see out the remaining 12 months of his Chelsea contract before leaving on a free transfer at the end of next season. “I would be happy in Madrid or London. If Lunin left Madrid, that could make things easier for everyone,” a source told ‘The Sun’.
