The Evian woman raised her endowment to 8 million dollars

Date:

Since its creation in 1994, the Amundi Evian Championship, the only major in continental Europe in the men’s and women’s categories, has continuously reaffirmed its ambition to promote women’s performance in sport and support their progress towards equality. This is the direction in which the tournament has been moving for some time in terms of prize money, thanks to the support of its Sponsor Club, which includes Amundi, Rolex, Danone and Evian; an initiative shared by all major women’s tournaments in the world and supported by the LPGA for several years.

“It is a good symbol for the 30th anniversary of the tournament to announce the significant increase in our prize,” said Franck Riboud, President of the Amundi Evian Championship. “Since our creation, our ambition has been to develop women’s sport and provide more and more resources to the champions who represent it. Today, thanks to the support of the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour, the participation of our loyal Club of already sponsoring the exposure provided by the international media, the Amundi Evian Championship is more part of the very exclusive circle of major events in women’s golf.

Since the important championship designation in 2013, the stock has grown by more than 146%. The endowment has increased by $3.5 million since 2021, and in 2022 the one million dollar winner’s share was reached for the first time. By 2024, the majors will distribute at least $46.9 million, an increase of more than 100% in just three years.

The increase to 8 million dollars represents a prize of 1.2 million for the winner, and another step towards equality in world sport.
