Jasmine Paolini, a finalist at Roland Garros, topped the main draw in Monterrey

The Italian Jasmine Paolini, finalist last Saturday at Roland Garros, leading the main draw of the Monterrey Open, announced Tuesday in a press release.

In 2024, the tournament will be played in the northern city of Mexico from August 17 to 24, there will be its first edition as category 500a promotion that will allow to have tennis players of European quality, the seventh best ranked player in the world.

Paolini, 28 years old, is having his best year as a professional, achieved last February his first 1,000 Masters, the one in Dubai, his greatest title and The final at Roland Garros was his first at a Grand Slam.

Another player leading the poster this year is the American Danielle Collis, 30 years old, and eleventh best tennis player in the world todaya position he reached because of her victories at the Miami Masters 1,000 and the Charleston, a WTA 500.

The Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, 21st in the world ranking; the Russian Anastasia Pavlyuechenkova26 in the WTA list, and the Croatian Donna Vekic39 and current champion, complete with star players in 2024.

Svitolina was also the champion of the tournament, in 2020, and like Pavlyuechenkova, in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2017.

The tournament will be held in week before the US Open and will have a prize pool of $992,000the highest in its history.
