A tennis legend read: “Only No. 1 sinner for the computer, Alcaraz is stronger”

Date:

This Monday is the day of Jannik Sinner. The Italian became number 1 in the world after a sensational start to the season where he lost only three games out of 36 played, although the last of them, in the semifinals of Roland Garros against Carlos Alcaraz, was particularly painful.

And it was that allowing the Spaniard to be crowned champion in Paris and add his third Grand Slam titlerekindling the debate about which player is tipped to dominate tennis for years to come.

The question is Sinner or Alcaraz? and some seem pretty obvious. This is the case of Mats Wilander, who considers Spanish superior to Italian.

“Alcaraz showed that he doesn’t have to play his best tennis to win. He can win many more Grand Slams thanks to his aggressive play and the great courage he shows in important points. The match always depends on your performance . Only the number one sinner for the computer, Alcaraz is stronger” said the Swedish tennis legend.

The sinner celebrated his rise to number 1 in the ATP rankings on Tuesday with a mass bath in Sesto Pusteriaa town in northern Italy near San Candido – his hometown -, which gave him such a great reception that even the rain didn’t stop.

The new world number 1 returns to Italian soil as a hero, received by the countrymen and about 500 children from all the towns in the area gathered in the small town of Sesto Pusteria where the sports center where he started playing as a child is located, just 10 minutes from San Cándido.

I am very happy to be here, a place where I was born and where I spent my youth with friends and family. I am happy to see so many young people here and share this day with them,” said the 23-year-old young tennis player, before signing the town’s ‘Golden Book’.

At the event, Sinner was not only accompanied by his parents and his grandmother, but he was surrounded by two of the three most important titles of his career: the Davis Cup salad bowl and the world number 1 trophy.

Sesto Pusteria was filled with tennis fans and followers of a Sinner exciting in Italy, so local authorities banned the entry of vehicles into the historic center of the city.
