Bayern’s radical turnaround with Davies

Date:

Bayern Munich has radically changed its approach to the renewal of Alphonso Davies. The Canadian full-back, who is wanted by Real Madrid, has a contract until 2025 with the Munich club, who have made him various offers to extend their relationship without reaching an agreement.

So far, the Bavarian entity have advocated putting Davies on the market this summer to prevent him from leaving on a free within a year. However, the situation within Bayern has taken a 180-degree turn since, according to Sky Germany, the Bavarian entity has internally agreed to enter the final year of the Canadian’s contract to continue negotiating a re- renew.

Bayern Munich has improved its contract extension offer but the footballer is asking for 20 million euros per season to renew. The give and take between club and representative did not please senior Bavarian officials like Hoeness, who was less conciliatory than new sports director Max Eberl.

The maneuver involves a big risk for the Bavarian club, because if an agreement is not reached in the coming months, the North American player will be free to negotiate with any team from January 1, 2025 and can leave the entity in condition of free footballer.

Madrid, so far, have not contacted Bayern to make an offer for Alphonso Davies. In the white club, they know that time is in their favor in this case and the same situation can be repeated as with David Alaba in 2021 and Antonio Rüdiger in 2022, who came to Madrid with a transfer bonus but did not pay the transfer fee in either. Bayern or Chelsea respectively.
