Jacobs won the 100 meters in Turku with 9.92, his best mark since 2021

The Italian Marcel JacobsOlympic champion, won this Tuesday in the race of 100 meters of the Paavo Nurmi Gamesin Turku (Finland) and on the gold circuit of World Athletics, with a mark of 9.92, its best score since 2021.

The Jacobs brand is also minimum for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (10.00). He did so in the heats, where he scored 9.99, and he improved on it in the final, where he won in 9.92 ahead of compatriot Chituru Ali, who also broke the 10.00 second barrier (9.96). Canadian Andre de Grasse completed the podium (10.00).

It is the first time since 2022 that Jacobs, 29 years old and Olympic and European champion, has dropped under 10.00, and he has not run this fast since he broke the continental record in the final of the Tokyo Games (9.80).

Regarding the Spanish involvement in Turku, the best is Adrián Ben, fourth in the 800 with a record of 1:45.16, his best score of the season and an RFEA Olympic minimum that in his case was not requested. Swede Andreas Kramer won with 1:44.65.

In the 3,000 meter hurdles, where Ethiopian Abraham Seme won (8:17.22), ninth place in Ibrahim Ezzaydouni (8:28.43) and tenth of Victor Ruiz (8:30.78), which still continues without a minimum; while Adel Mechaal finished tenth in the 1,500m with a time of 3.37.80over three seconds behind Irishman Cathal Doyle (3:34.09).
