The Royal Spanish Cycling Federation with the Madrid Cycling Federation and the Community of Madrid was celebrated the official presentation of Spanish UCI Elite Road Championship, Elite and Sub23 2024. The community of Madrid will host a celebration of Championship of Spain for the second consecutive year after the victory obtained last season in one of the editions with the greatest impact and sports show in the history of the nationals.
Galapagar and San Lorenzo de El Escorial They will be the two venues for the nationals, which will take place from Friday the 21st to Sunday the 23rd of June and will designate the runners who will earn the privilege of wearing the Spanish road and time trial champion jersey for the next 365 days. To fight for this honor, some of the title defenders will gather in the same municipality, such as Oier Lazkano (men’s elite line), Maví García (women’s elite line) or Mireia Benito (women’s elite time trial) along with other stars of our cycling such as Alex Aranburu, Iván García Cortina, Jesús Herrada, Raúl García Pierna, Sandra Alonso, Ane Santesteban, Sara Martín or Sheyla Gutiérrez, among many others.
This Friday they will start the tests
The town of Galapagar will be in charge of hosting on Friday the 21st the start and finish of the UCI Elite-Men’s Elite, Men’s U23 and Women’s Elite-U23 time trials, which will be held on the same 33.4 km route and 380 meters of accumulated elevation gain. Starting Saturday, San Lorenzo de El Escorial will alternate for the celebration of the Elite-U23 women’s and U23 men’s online tests, which will take place around two loops with different number of laps: a length of 36 km and another shorter, which will have 13 km and including that. the demanding ramps on the slopes of Alto de Abantos. Both tests, like the UCI-Elite men’s Elite online test, which will oversee the closing of this 2024 edition of the Spanish Championship on Sunday with a route that will take place on the same two circuits, will have the privilege of starting and finishing. in front of Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorialone of our nation’s great historical monuments that will grace one of the most special weekends that national cycling has to offer in every season.
At the event, held in the Auditorium of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Community of Madrid, will be present. the general director of sports of the Community of Madrid, Alberto Tomé; the vice president of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation and president of the Madrid Cycling Federation, José Vicioso; Jesús Muñoz Díaz, sports councilor of San Lorenzo de El Escorial; and José Ángel Moreno, Galapagar sports councilor.
Jose Vicioso, in his speech, wanted to point out that “we are very proud that the Community of Madrid has been chosen for the second consecutive year to hold the Spanish UCI Elite, Elite and U23 Road Championships in its municipalities, a fact that shows the interest of our countrymen at the social level and their potential to present the tourist and cultural offer of the territory that hosts them. The crowning of the new champions of Spain in front of one of the most famous buildings of our country, like the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, will be the perfect ending for some Spanish Championships that will once again have a very high level of organization and that will provide a great spectacle to a large number of lovers of our sport in the region. We have no doubt that they will be successful and, therefore, we would like to thank the Community of Madrid, Galapagar and San Lorenzo de El Escorial for their cooperation in making it possible.”
