Tebas: “I can’t get rid of my surprise at the proposal to disqualify Pedro Rocha”

Date:

Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, This Friday he expressed his disagreement with the decision of Sports Administrative Court (TAD) to issue a proposed resolution to disqualify the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Pedro Rocha, for six years to hold positions in any sports federation for allegedly committing very serious offenses during his tenure as president of Management Committeeafter the departure of Luis Rubiales.

Tebas expressed the following on his social networks:

“I have been practicing as a lawyer for over 35 years, and most of this time I specialized in sports law. I carefully read the instructor’s proposal to disqualify Pedro Rocha and I am still surprised. 2 years of disqualification is proposed for each of the following facts:

1. The dismissal of Andreu Camps. It is public and well-known that his departure was agreed by the previous Secretary of State, among other things, because of the conflict with the national team players.

2. The termination of the contract as a lawyer in the office of González Cueto on the same day he was arrested in an investigation for belonging to a criminal organization involved in the theft of the RFEF.

3. The emergence of RFEF as a private prosecution in the process in which the former president of the RFEF, lawyers from Cueto’s office and the RFEF, and senior employees of a construction company that worked for the RFEF were arrested.

These decisions were supported not only by the managing committee, but by the practical unity of Spanish football.

Do the circumstances constitute an abuse of authority? No, and not just for common sense but for the correct application of the rules.”
