Morikawa He birdied six holes on the front nine for a 29, tying his career-best nine-hole score on tour.

“It’s a course where the guys won’t take their foot off the accelerator and we have to stay that way,” Morikawa said. “…Every hole here is essentially a birdie hole if you hit the fairway, so we just have to keep it up.”

Schefflerthat He turned 28 on Friday.his afternoon was ruined by a a weather delay of three hours and 14 minutes after lightning struck near the area. He was one of 14 players who had to wait out the delay before completing their rounds.

He had three consecutive birdies at Nos. 13-15 and joined the group at 11 under par by birdying No. 18.

“Definitely better than last week,” Scheffler said, comparing his performance to his tie for 41st place at the US Open. “I felt, like I said (Thursday), that I saw some things in my swing and I feel like I’m seeing more breaks on these greens. I’m definitely feeling some good momentum from the last two day.”
