Murray, formerly number one in the world, is back in the final after one of sydney in January he was defeated against the Russians aslan karatsev after defeating Kyrgios (78th) in an hour and a half. That Sydney final was the Scotsman’s first since he won his 46th ATP title in Antwerp’2019, at the moment the last part of his career.
A failed Kyrgios smashed his racket in anger and got a penalty point after losing in the first set. Anger continued in the second set and double faults allowed Murray to also break the serve to put the victory on the right track.
The Australian continued to complain to the referee and at one point, sitting in his chair, refused to continue playing, until the tournament supervisor came out and convinced him to end the match.
But Kyrgios had already lost concentration and made a lot of mistakes, which made things easier for Murray.
The British player seals his tenth final on the grass. He won eight of them. Murray, whatever happens, will once again be included in the top fifty in the world. He will play the 70th final of his career.
The Scottish tennis player, who started his tour of Stuttgart in 68th place in the rankings, could start next week as thirty-five in the ATP rankings if he wins Sunday’s duel against Italian Matteo Berrettini, second seeded, who he defeated 7-6 (7) and 7-6 (5) in German oscar otte.
Berrettini, 26, number 10 in the world rankings, saw serious opposition to the German, 28 and number 61 on the list, who did not give up his service, similar to the Italian.
The transalpine wants to reclaim the Stuttgart crown he achieved in 2019. Last year’s Wimbledon finalist is testing the great level Murray has shown on the grass.
