With 9,890 points, the Italian leads above the Serbian Novak Djokovic (8,360), came out after his knee operation but, nevertheless, got a place and Back to number two.
It was contributed by defeating Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of Queen’s, a contest he won in the previous edition. Alcaraz is third, with 8,139 points.
A week before Wimbledon starts, the prospects are good for Sinner, who will defend fewer points than his rivals there. The world number one will only defend 720, compared to Alcaraz’s 2,000 and Djokovic’s 1,200.
Another finalist in Halle, the Pole Hubert Hurkacz, rose to seventh position, the best of his career. The two positions he won were lost to the Australian Alex de Minaurnow it’s ninth.
The American Tommy Paulwinner at Queen’s, rose one step, to twelfth, and his rival in the final, the Italian Lorenzo Musettiwon five and was in 25th place.
Among the top hundred, in addition to Alcaraz, other Spaniards are Alejandro Davidovich (36, -3), Pedro Martínez (48, -2), Jaume Munar (63, -3) and Roberto Carballés (65, – 3).
Among Ibero-American players, the Argentine Sebastián Báez (18, +1) leads the way, ahead of the Chileans Nicolás Jarry (19, +1) and Alejandro Tabilo (24).
