The world champion of 200 meters, Shericka Jacksonset the best time in the series Jamaica trials this Saturday in Kingston with 22.67 seconds.
A day after his victory and qualification for the Paris Games (July 26 – August 11) in the 100 meters, Jackson performed well in the 200 meters heats before Sunday’s finals, where he is the heavy favorite.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryceclassified at 100 meters, did not compete in the 200 meter heats. Current Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, injured, is also not competing in this selection and will not defend her title in Paris.
In the long jump, the 2019 world champion and bronze medalist last summer at the World Cup in Budapest, Tajay Gayle, achieved only fourth place in the final (8.18 m) and aims to miss the Games. The competition is dominated by Carey McLeod (8.38 m).
